Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor has attributed the challenges facing present-day Christianity to apostasy and false prophets working against the true word of God.

Ezeofor who stated this while delivering his sermon at the Cathedral Church of Saint John, Ekwulobia, during a special service for the collation and installation of Venerable Ifeanyi Mgbemene and Henry Okonkwo as Archdeacons expressed regret that the faith of modern Christians is under serious attack.

He urged ministers of God to rise and defend the faith, describing faith as a call for the salvation of mankind.

While warning against compromising faith with idolatry, the Prelate encouraged the newly collated Archdeacons to view their elevation not as a mere appointment but as a call to increase efforts in winning souls for Christ and bringing about societal transformation.

During the ceremony, Bishop Ezeofor inaugurated the Diaspora Archdeaconry in Aguata Diocese, charging the new Archdeacon, Ven Henry Okonkwo to use the platform to reach out to Christians in the diaspora, helping them to reconnect with their faith and remember their roots.

The newly collated Archdeacons, Venerable Ifeanyi Mgbemene and Henry Okonkwo, while expressing gratitude to God for using Bishop Ezeofor to elevate them, pledged to continue living up to the expectations of their ministry.

The service attended by Anglican Bishop of Ogbaru Diocese, Right Reverend Prosper Amah, President of the Aguata Diocesan Women’s Ministry, Mrs. Chinyere Ezeofor, Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Foster Ihejiofor and other diocesan officials, witnessed the administration of oaths to the two Archdeacons as well as the reacceptance of Venerable Emmanuel Ekejiuba as an Archdeacon in Aguata Diocese after taking a vow.
