Anambra Youth Launches “Not Too Young To Learn A Skill Campaign”

Participants at a one day programme staged by the Youth Assembly Of Nigeria (YAN), Anambra State Chapter, have thrown their weight behind the campaign to encourage young people to learn skills early in life.

The programme featured 4th inauguration of the Assembly with hundreds of youths participating to drive home the initiative.

Official unveiling of the campaign had the theme “Awakening Youth Consciousness Through Societal Engagement And Skill Acquisition”

Chairman of the Occasion, Sir Eric Mmaduagwu, CEO E-Class Pharmacy, lauded YAN for initiating the campaign targeted at catching them young for skill acquisition for economic sustainability and to fight unemployment.

“I know that Not Too Young To Learn A Skill Campaign when carefully implemented is going to change the mentality of youths we have in Anambra State and Nigeria in general.

“I believe that this particular campaign will help to bring back the interest of youths in crafts and handiwork.

” I told them i will sponsor youth creativity through Literature because i know that writing is a skill irrespective of whatever you are doing,” he said.

Contributing, Deputy Majority Leader, Anambra State House of Assembly and Member Representing Ekwusigo Constituency, Hon Ikenna Ofodeme, enjoined youths in the state to utilize various empowerment opportunities created by government to improve their living condition.

He called for stepping down the campaign down to households, just as he asked parents to discover, develop and channel their children’s potentials early enough according to their areas of proficiency.

One of Prime Movers of the campaign, Ambassador Charles Ezeaniekwe, YAN Anambra State, charged parents to always encourage their children in those skills that will create prospects for them.

He called on government to create more technical schools to boost the initiative, underscoring the importance of private sector support services .

Amb Ezeaniekwe, then, cautioned youths against all forms of negative indulgences capable of marring their future.

The event also featured lectures and presentation of awards to deserving personalities.
