Earlier, Returning officer for APGA primary election, Mr Uche Nwegbo explained that the total delegates at the poll were 3,260, while 3,175 were accredited to vote and the total number of invalid votes were four.

At the LP primary held in Awka, Muoghalu polled a total of 573 votes to defeat his only rival, Mr John Nwosu who secured 19 votes. Nwosu had earlier written a letter to the party leadership disclosing that he would not be participating in the primary.

The LP governorship primary which was witnessed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and observers, was participated by 649 delegates out of which 601 persons were accredited with a record of 592 valid votes cast and 5 invalid votes.

The Chairman of the LP Governorship election committee/Returning Officer, Barrister Bennett Etanabene, while declaring Moughalu as winner, claimed that Anambra State has been destined to produce the next President of Nigeria starting from winning the November 8 gubernatorial seat.

In an acceptance speech, the party flag bearer, Chief George Moughalu extended hand of fellowship to his opponent, John Nwosu, noting that with unity among the stakeholders, their victory would be assured.

Moughalu, who said he was battle ready to defeat the incumbent governor, Chukwuma Soludo of APGA, explained that his capacity and experience in public service and politics was a surebet.

“I’m politically experienced. I have served at various levels, held leadership of several political parties and board head. Our security infrastructure have failed. Our people have lost their confidence in the affairs of the State.

“I will justify the confidence you reposed on me. Anambra State will be better. Trust me. Check my political trajectory. One thing about nature is that you can’t give what you don’t have. What quantum of light can you bring. I will bring the light of glory for the benefits of Ndi Anambra,” he added.

Meanwhile, crisis rocked the All Progressives Congress (APC) with three aspirants, Sir Paul Chukwuma, Dr Obiora Okonkwo and Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji stepping down for Mr Valentine Ozigbo and Nicholas Ukachukwu for the party primary yet to be conducted.
