Academic courses of Christopher University (UNICHRIS), Mowe, Ogun State has been granted full accreditation by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Christopher University is owned by former Fidelity Bank Chairman, Chief Christopher Ezeh , a native of Igboukwu in Anambra State.
The university, which was licensed by the Federal Government in 2015, is a specialized institution committed to the pursuit of academic innovation, skill-based training, a tradition of excellence and private sector participation.
The Vice Chancellor of UNICHRIS, Prof Olatunji Oyelana announced the receipt of the results of the 2023/2024-accreditation exercise by the NUC in October/November, 2024.
The university obtained full accreditation status in the five academic programmes that were examined, which are Accounting, Economics, Computer Science, Information Science & Media Studies and Political Science
The VC, Prof. Oyelana further disclosed that the university is fully repositioned to sustain its enviable position as a leading private university in Nigeria, and within the West Africa sub-region.
According to him, the university currently is in strategic partnerships with a number of industry and professional associations, nationally and internationally, to reinforce its vision of becoming a national powerhouse in innovative education and as a specialized institution committed to the pursuit of academic innovation and excellence.
He said the current full accreditation status approved by the NUC equally lends credence to the earlier approvals and recognitions the UNICHRIS received from the Council of Legal Education, Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAN, ACCA), the Nursing and Midwifery Council and the Council for Medical Laboratory Science of Nigeria.
Oyelana further disclosed that the university would continue to strive to expand access to quality and innovative education while it ensures constant improvement and upgrade in its teaching and research facilities.
Said he: “The achievement is a heartwarming development to us, and to the prospecting UTME candidates currently seeking admission into universities. Christopher University, has an enviable pedigree that stands it out as a credible alternative to public universities.”
The VC further explained that Christopher University, which is 10-year-old was established by Chief Christopher Ikechi Ezeh has become a household name both here and beyond the shores of Nigeria. Presently, the university has 25 academic programmes and departments.
“In support of our professional courses and programmes, the university has expanded its teaching/research infrastructures to ensure high standards. Our system is open and democratic,” Oyelana stated.
