Anambra: Former ONICCIMA President Dies After ASWAMA Attack.

A tragic incident has claimed the life of Hon. Okey Akaneme, former President of ONICCIMA.

Recall, Akaneme was brutally attacked by ASWAMA officials and policemen during a revenue operation at his residence in Onitsha.

The assault left him with severe injuries, including a broken spine, and he succumbed to his injuries after a prolonged fight for his life.

The news about his death was posted by a social media influencer , Ozi Anieto who wrote:

“Hon. Okey Akaneme, former President of ONICCIMA, has passed away.
He was attacked by ASWAMA officials and policemen during a revenue operation – right inside his own home. The assault left him with a broken spine, paralyzed, and fighting for his life. That fight is now over.

“It is a pity how a man woke up healthy in his house one morning, only to receive visitors from a government agency and the police — a visit that would render his children fatherless and make his wife a widow. He will never again speak with his brothers or discuss any family matters. He is gone – just like that.

“He was a man who gave his time, energy, and heart to build this society. But that same society failed to protect him.

“May his spirit find peace in a place where betrayal and injustice can’t reach, a place where service is not punished and dignity is not trampled.

But we who are still here must not stay silent.”
