A speeding tipper loaded with sand crashed into a crowd along the Chisco Park Junction in Amichi, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, resulting in multiple fatalities.
The exact number of casualties remains unconfirmed.
The crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Friday night.
According to videos trending online from the scene and CCTV footage capturing the incident, people were engaged in their usual night-time activities when the tipper lost control and rammed into them.

Many were knocked down, including motorcyclists, a young girl, bystanders, and several petty traders.
The footage shows some of the victims lying on the ground, while residents and other road users express shock and offer rescue assistance.
Efforts by this reporter to confirm the crash with the Corps Commandant of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra State, CC Nnennaya Alexander, were unsuccessful, as she had not responded to inquiries or the shared videos at the time of this report.
However, the spokesperson for the command, RC Margaret Onabe, promised to respond but had yet to do so at the time of publication.
