Former Minister Chris Ngige has spoken about the tough political battle he faced when running for Senate in 2011. Ngige said he contested in Anambra Central ,a senatorial district where Peter Obi, Victor Umeh, the late Dora Akunyili and Uche Ekwunife are from.

In an interview recently, he said that all four of them strongly opposed his bid to become a senator. He said they joined forces to stop him and it was a fierce fight.

Ngige said despite the intense opposition, he never gave up. He said he believed it was God who helped him withstand the pressure and overcome the challenges. He said in the end, he won the senatorial seat.

In Ngige’s words: “I was trying to be a senator in the senatorial district of Peter Obi, Victor Umeh, Uche Ekwunife and Dora Akunyili. They all decided I wouldn’t go. It was a gruesome fight, they gave me wound all over my body. These 4 persons, some held my legs, head and hands so I could not fight well. It was God who saved me from them and I won the election”
