The city of Awka, Anambra State capital, is set to witness a historic blend of culture, creativity, and couture, as Bosco Clothings prepares to host one of the most anticipated fashion events in the state, the Bosco Cultural Fashion Show.

In an exclusive interview with this reporter, the Chief Executive Officer of Bosco Clothings, Mr. Johnbosco Chisom Ifeka, revealed that the upcoming show is designed to celebrate and promote the beauty of African culture and traditional fashion through innovative designs and modern interpretations.

According to him, the fashion show, themed ‘Tradition Reimagined’, aims to “show the world our pride for our culture through our traditional appearances,” while also creating global awareness of the creative excellence and craftsmanship coming out of Anambra. He added that the event, which is slated to hold this Saturday (October 18th, 2025) at the Hollywood Event Centre Awka Anambra State capital, will serve as a platform to attract potential investors and collaborators interested in the evolving African fashion industry.

Mr. Ifeka described the event as a reimagining of traditional appearances, one that will showcase the richness of the Igbo culture and the creative ingenuity of local designers. He disclosed that the show will feature over fifteen young designers who will compete for prizes including brand-new sewing machines, iron, and some other tailoring accessories, as part of Bosco Clothings’ empowerment initiative to support emerging fashion talents.

He explained that the initiative reflects Bosco’s philosophy that “nothing happens to a candle when it lights another,” stressing the importance of mutual support within the fashion industry to ensure sustainable growth, because the sky is enough for everyone to shine.

The CEO further revealed that the show has attracted attention from top fashion houses and influential figures within and beyond Anambra State. According to him, among the dignitaries expected at the glamorous event, he mentioned Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the Deputy Governor, the Chief of Protocol to the Governor, and the Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, among others.

He also disclosed that prominent personalities and fashion enthusiasts, “the men that matter exactly in Anambra and beyond”, have confirmed their attendance, adding that the event will blend class, elegance, and cultural identity in one unforgettable experience.

While highlighting the logistics, Mr. Ifeka noted that many guests are expected, alongside about 20 registered vendors. He further disclosed that the event’s major sponsor is Pineleaf Estate and Home Estate Company, whose support has been instrumental to the success of the project.

Tickets, he said, are available at affordable rates, ranging from ₦2,000 for Regular, and ₦20,000 for VIP, to ₦100,000 for Elite (table for two), ensuring inclusivity for all fashion lovers of interest.

On the choice of Awka as the host city, Mr. Ifeka explained that it was a deliberate decision to promote Anambra’s capital as a creative hub with immense potential for cultural and commercial growth. He described Awka as a city that balances tradition and modernity, which makes it the perfect canvas for such a fashion revolution rooted in culture.

He further expressed optimism that the event would not only entertain but also inspire a renewed appreciation for African fashion, cultural identity, and creativity.

Given the fact that fashion is not just about clothes, but also a reflection of people’s heritage, confidence, pride and many more; from all indications, the Bosco Cultural Fashion Show, which is expected to attract fashion enthusiasts, investors, and cultural stakeholders from across Nigeria, obviously promises to redefine and showcase that glowing intersection between fashion, tradition and creativity both in Anambra State, the Southeast and beyond.
