The Special Adviser to Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo on Community Policing, Prince Ken Emeakayi, has directed the local security organization, Agunechemba, to commence round-the-clock monitoring across Anambra State.
This directive was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Media and Publicity Secretary of Agunechemba, Mr. Nweke Nweke, in response to a series of unverified voice notes and conflicting security alerts circulating on social media from unknown sources.
According to the statement, the new security measures will focus on identified hotspots and areas frequently exploited by criminal elements.
It emphasized the importance of robust collaboration between local security operatives and federal security agencies to proactively detect and curb criminal activities in the state.
Emeakayi, described as a seasoned security expert, dismissed the circulating voice notes as unverified and unreliable, urging the public to exercise caution when confronted with rumors capable of creating unnecessary panic.
He reassured residents that there is no cause for alarm.
He further issued a stern warning to individuals spreading baseless threats from the comfort of their homes, stating that Agunechemba operatives would trace and investigate the origin of such misleading social media messages.
“Agunechemba operatives have been mandated to work closely with federal security agencies to identify and dismantle crime hotspots. Ndi Anambra should feel confident that they can celebrate the Yuletide season without fear,”Emeakayi stated.
He encouraged Ndi Anambra in the diaspora to return home for the Christmas and New Year festivities, assuring them that comprehensive security arrangements are already in place to safeguard lives and property throughout the celebrations.
“We must prioritize the well-being of Ndi Anambra during this important period. I assure everyone that we remain fully committed to tackling insecurity in Anambra State. We appreciate His Excellency for providing the resources needed to rehabilitate troubled youths. I also want to emphasize that areas once controlled by criminal elements have now been reclaimed by our operatives. It is extremely risky for any wrongdoer to attempt harassment or kidnapping in Anambra State,”he added.
