Hon. Echezona Anazodo, the Executive Chairman of Nnewi North local government, on Tuesday, championed public enlightenment across Nnewi for the prevention and management of fire outbreaks in the commercial city. The enlightenment effort also included basic information on control of fire outbreaks as well as a hotline for the newly procured fire truck, fully equipped to respond to any fire emergency within Nnewi in record time.
During the public enlightenment by Hon. Anazodo, who was joined by other officials of the Nnewi North LGA and the leadership of Nnewi youth body, the new fire truck was used in the awareness creation across major streets and markets throughout Nnewi, to inform the populace the need to prevent fire outbreaks, how to respond to fire outbreaks and also demonstrate the readiness of the fire service team in Nnewi North to respond rapidly to any fire incident.
The fire truck with a capacity of five thousand liters of water is fully kitted to combat fire outbreaks in Nnewi in the shortest possible time. With about fifteen trained firefighters dedicated to the use of the truck and other equipment attached for combating fire outbreaks, the Nnewi North Local Government Chairman said that the firefighters are fully trained and prepared to respond in record time to any fire distress call in Nnewi. According to Hon. Echezona Anazodo, “The water pressure of the truck can reach a four-storey building. As for our trained firefighters, they have morning and night shifts, enabling them to respond swiftly to any incident at any time. This is strictly managed by the Nnewi North local government. We are determined and intentional about solving the problem.”
Speaking on the LGA’s partnership with the State Government, the Executive Chairman of Nnewi North averred that the saying that “Solution is here,” which he observed has now changed to “Solution continues”, finds expression in the fact that Nnewi North “is very intentional in domesticating the governor’s template. We are simply following the steps of Mr. Governor. What we have done with this fire truck is augment the State Fire Service’s efforts. Collaboration does the job,” Hon. Anazodo said.
