Anambra State Police Command has taken two women into custody in connection with the disappearance of a 16-year-old girl, Oluebube Chukwuma, in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area.
Police Public Relations Officer,SP Tochukwu Ikenga said in a statement on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, that the suspects, identified as Uzoma Nwabueze and Precious Monday, were apprehended by operatives attached to the Ozubulu Division following intelligence-led efforts.
According to the command, the suspects allegedly admitted during questioning that they played a role in the teenager’s disappearance and revealed that she has been taken to Ghana.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka for a thorough probe to determine the full circumstances of the girl’s movement and identify any additional persons who may be involved. Police say further updates will be made available as investigations continue.
