The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations – NIPR, Anambra State chapter, has unveiled the Institute’s 2026 Annual General Meeting and Summit, which has been slated for the 12th and 13th March, 2026. According to the programme, day one will take place at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam, and day two will take place at the International Convention Centre, Awka. During the unveiling of this year’s AGM/Summit, the chairman of the local organizing committee, Dr. Nelson Omenugha, assured that the NIPR intends to showcase nothing but excellence, which is Anambra’s trademark.

The unveiling, which was performed by the Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, was held at the ICT hall, Anambra State Light House, Awka, and graced by select journalists, members of the Institute, including Emeka Ozumba, and stakeholders/leaders, including Professor Kate Azuka Omenugha, a Board Member of the Institute and the Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Professor Stella Okunna, Professor Angela Nwammuo, the Chairperson of NIPR, Anambra State Chapter, among others. The theme of this year’s AGM and summit is “Managing Reputation Capital in the Digital Age: Influence, Integrity and Impact.” The National President of NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku, is expected at the AGM/Summit in March.

Drawing from the theme, Dr. Nelson Omenugha, the chairman of the AGM/Summit organizing committee, in his opening remarks, said that “reputation capital has emerged as a strategic asset – one that must be intentionally built, ethically managed, and continuously protected.” While outlining the programme of events, Dr. Omenugha announced the Institute’s choice of Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, the National President of the Nigerian Bar Association, as the keynote speaker at the event. He also noted, while thanking the Government of Anambra State for its support, that the Young Reputation Champion Award shall be conferred on two individuals and two brands. Similarly, he revealed that seven brands and three individuals shall be conferred with the NIPR Lifetime Reputation Management Award.

In her brief reaction, the Anambra State Chairperson of the NIPR, Professor Angela Nwammuo, thanked the organizing committee for the excellent job they had done so far in putting the event together. She expressed confidence in the team led by Dr. Nelson Omenugha and assured of support. Professor Kate Omenugha, member of the NIPR Board of Trustees, also thanked the team for a job well done so far.

During the unveiling performed by Anambra State Commissioner, Dr. Law Mefor, he pointed out that the theme of the summit is appropriate and speaks to Anambra’s present situation. According to Mefor, the continued Monday sit-at-home was “damaging Anambra’s reputation.” This, he said, was why the government decided to put an end to such public sabotage of Anambra’s economy and reputation. He also pledged to fully support the event.

The NIPR is a reputable Public Relations body established by an Act of Parliament. The 2026 Anambra chapter AGM and Summit is designed for all Public Relations professionals who are members of the Institute.
