Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has commenced the conversion of the old Government House into the Solution Innovation District (SID), marking a major policy shift toward technology-driven governance and economic development.

Work has already begun on transforming the former Government House into the permanent site of the Solution Innovation District.

The facility previously served as the administrative seat of the state government before operations were relocated to the new Government House, popularly known as the “Light House” following the inauguration by the Soludo administration in June 2025.

The revamping complex will host the Solution Innovation District, a collaborative ecosystem designed to bring together innovators, inventors, technologists, social entrepreneurs, technology firms, government agencies, investors, digital communities, and smart artisans.

The initiative aims to develop solutions to both local and global challenges while positioning Anambra State as a regional hub for innovation.

During an on-the-spot inspection of the project on Sunday, Governor Soludo disclosed that the district, covering between 12 and 13 hectares, is being designed to rival global innovation hubs such as Silicon Valley in both infrastructure and output.

He noted that the project represents a significant transformation of the state’s urban and economic landscape.

According to the governor, the inspection was necessitated by the project’s alignment with his administration’s core philosophy of “Everything Technology, Technology Everywhere.”

He said that a hands-on leadership approach would ensure timely delivery and quality execution.

“I embarked on this on-the-spot inspection because this ambitious project aligns with the administration’s core philosophy of ‘Everything Technology, Technology Everywhere.’ By centralising innovation within a dedicated physical space, the government intends to embed digital solutions into every facet of the local economy and governance,” Soludo said.

Governor Soludo further revealed that construction is currently in its first phase, with contractors working on an accelerated schedule to complete the initial structures within the next few weeks.

He added that a follow-up inspection has been scheduled for later in the month to assess progress and ensure adherence to project milestones.

He explained that the pace of development reflects the administration’s urgency in transitioning the state’s digital ecosystem from temporary facilities to a permanent, world-class headquarters capable of supporting the growing population of developers, engineers, and entrepreneurs in Anambra State.
