The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in Anambra State has commenced a statewide Constituency and Executive Project Tracking Exercise.

Nzebunachi Chukwuma, Team Lead of the Constituency and Executive Projects Tracking Group (CEPTG), told journalists that the exercise, which began on February 18, 2026, will cover 68 projects across the state’s three senatorial zones, with a total estimated cost of about N18.4 billion.

Chukwuma explained that the initiative aims to promote good governance, transparency, and accountability by monitoring the proper implementation of government projects in line with the Commission’s preventive and enforcement mandates.

“This initiative allows the Commission to track the execution of constituency projects by lawmakers and government agencies, ensuring transparency and value for money,” he said. “The projects include youth and women empowerment, road construction, boreholes, school renovations, and provision of supplies, among others. The goal is to reduce secrecy, diversion of funds, and other forms of corruption while ensuring end-users benefit from these services.”

He further noted that this is phase eight of the series, expected to last 10 days, and running simultaneously in 26 states nationwide.

“Projects are randomly selected by a steering committee, including representatives from the Federal Budget Office, the Accountant General of the Federation, ICPC staff, and the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, to ensure impartiality and proper valuation,” Chukwuma added.

Highlighting past successes, he said the exercise has recovered funds from unexecuted projects, ensured completion of ongoing projects, and led to the prosecution of those found culpable.

“Some lawmakers and contractors have been directed to return to sites to complete their projects, while others have faced legal action,” he stated.
