The Anambra State Police Command has arrested the alleged leader of a criminal gang in Ogidi, a move that has resulted in the recovery of various firearms and ammunition.
The suspect, 46-year-old Chukwuka Anene, was apprehended following a sustained investigation by the command. The arrest followed the earlier detention of three individuals linked to the syndicate by the command’s Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, Anene confessed during interrogation to being the armourer for the gang.
The police said efforts have been intensified to track down other fleeing members of the syndicate. They reassured residents of Anambra State of their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of law-abiding citizens.
