Grief and pain ran high as 44-year-old Mrs. Christiana Amaka Okeke, nee Chukwuma, was laid to rest at her husband’s home in Ogboji, Orumba South local government area of Anambra State, on Friday. Mrs. Amaka was stolen from her four young kids by death, only a few weeks ago, to the devastation of her loved ones. The deceased, Paul Chukwuma’s younger sister, died in Germany during a major procedure to remove a brain tumor. Earlier, she was at a London hospital before she was moved to Germany for the delicate procedure, and she was unable to make it.

On Thursday, a service of songs was held in her honour at Sir Paul Chukwuma’s home in Umueri and in Ogboji, at her husband’s home. Then on Friday, her final journey commenced with a funeral mass at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Ogboji, which was presided over by Cardinal Peter Ebere Okpaleke, the Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese. In his homily, the Bishop charged the bereaved to take courage and be consoled that in the last day, we shall all be united in God’s glory. He also charged all who mourn to be thankful to God for the time and good memories shared with the deceased while she lived. Thereafter, Mrs. Amaka’s remains were taken to her husband’s home, where she was interred. There, tears were hard to stop. The late Mrs. Amaka Okeke was obviously loved by her mother, her kids, her husband, her siblings, her husband’s relatives, friends, and well-wishers, all of whom she left behind.

Paul Chukwuma was joined by friends and well-wishers to mourn the painful passing of his younger sister. Some of the guests include: Chief Uzu Okagbue, Senator Emma Anosike, Senator Uche Ekwunife, Amb. Elijah Onyeagba, Professor Charles Esimone, Professor Jaja Nwanegbo, Professor Timothy Alabar, Mr. Terfa Hemba, and many others.

The late Mrs. Amaka Okeke is survived by her husband, Mr. Obinna Okeke, her four young kids, her mother, and her five siblings.
