The general public has been warned to desist from sharing images of late Chief Lucky Chinedu Adimike on social media, instant messaging platforms, and other news channels.
The warning was issued by a group under the aegis of the Awka-Etiti Renaissance Forum (ARF) in a statement made available to journalists.
The group, while mourning the death of Chief Adimike, popularly known as “Egonejije,” described him as a member of the governing council of the organization.
According to the statement, late Chief Adimike was a revered son of Awka-Etiti, widely known for his humanitarian services and philanthropic contributions to society.
The group stated that it was deeply disturbed by emerging reports surrounding the circumstances of Chief Adimike’s death, particularly the circulation of gruesome photographs of his remains across social media and other digital platforms.
ARF noted that the circulation of such graphic images was not only an affront to the dignity of the deceased but also a source of immeasurable pain and trauma to his grieving family and loved ones.
“We strongly condemn the display of such images and call on media houses, social media influencers, and the general public to exercise restraint and immediately desist from sharing or reposting them. Where they have already been shared, we ask that they be taken down. The dead deserve respect, and the family deserves privacy to mourn their irreplaceable loss,” the group stated.
The forum further recalled that throughout his lifetime, Chief Adimike extended his philanthropic reach across various communities by funding educational scholarships, improving healthcare access, and supporting empowerment programmes.
According to the group, in Awka-Etiti, he remained a pillar of hope and progress, working quietly but effectively to provide relief for widows, orphans, and struggling families.
The ARF noted that his humanitarian efforts were never driven by the desire for public acclaim but by a deep sense of duty to humanity a rare virtue that, according to the group, would be sorely missed.
The group testified that Chief Adimike’s generosity and compassion touched countless lives within and outside Awka-Etiti.
They added that he was widely respected for his unwavering commitment to community development, support for the less privileged, and tireless efforts toward uplifting vulnerable members of society.
According to them, his legacy of kindness, humility, and selfless service would remain indelible in the hearts of all who knew him.
“The ARF is aware that the Nigeria Police Force has commenced an official investigation into the death of Chief Adimike. We therefore caution members of the public, community leaders, and all stakeholders against making statements, accusations, or claims capable of jeopardizing the ongoing investigation,” the statement added.
The group further reiterated that the Nigeria Police Force possesses the constitutional responsibility to investigate and determine the facts surrounding the tragic death of Chief Adimike.
It stressed the need for patience, urging the public to allow law enforcement agencies to carry out their duties without interference, speculation, or the spread of false and inflammatory information.
ARF also reaffirmed its solidarity with the bereaved family and its commitment to the pursuit of justice in the matter.
The group called on the police authorities to leave no stone unturned in their investigation and to ensure that anyone found responsible for the gruesome act is brought to justice swiftly and transparently.
Meanwhile, the group disclosed that it had continued to provide necessary support and counsel to aid security agencies in unraveling those behind the heinous act.
It maintained that justice must prevail for Chief Adimike and his family, adding that the forum would remain committed until justice is achieved.
“We appeal to all sons and daughters of Awka-Etiti, friends, and admirers of late Chief Adimike to remain calm, law-abiding, and respectful. Let us honour his memory not with anger or speculation, but with dignified conduct and a collective resolve to ensure that justice is achieved through due process,” the statement concluded.
“May the soul of Chief Lucky Adimike rest in peace.”
