The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has reaffirmed his commitment to value reformation as a fundamental requirement in his quest for a livable and prosperous Anambra State. Addressing a vast congregation at the Church Shift and Holy Spirit Conference, organized by Dominion City and hosted by Dr. David Ogbueli, in Awka, the Anambra State capital, the Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, said that there cannot be a crown without the cross. “There cannot be a crown without the cross. But, in the quest for money, we promise people that there is a crown without the cross…that is not the Christianity that I know,” Soludo said, insisting that Christians “must get back to responsible Christianity”.
Reflecting on the amount of chaos the quest for quick money has caused, the governor revealed that at the root of the insecurity experienced in the recent past in the state, is the quest for quick money. Speaking further on this, Governor Soludo recalled that when he assumed office, about 8 LGAs were under siege by armed bandits and that so far, his administration has liberated all 8 LGAs and dismantled 62 criminal camps across Anambra State. To fix this, the governor said, “we must move forward” by “going back to the basics.” According to Professor Soludo, “there are fundamental values, and in many cases, we have to go back to the basics.” He then warned against a strange “thinking of God as a money doubler,” which has crept into the Church.
Speaking on the philosophical undertone of the challenge, Governor Soludo said there are “two Ts in conflict: transaction and transformation.” According to the governor, how far a society goes depends on the T prevalent in that society. “How a society moves depends on the T that dominates,” Soludo emphasized.
Challenging the congregation, the governor regretted that Christians today are more aware of the devil. “The kind of Christianity some of us do, everything is from the devil. If somebody is rich, it is from ritual. If somebody is poor, someone took his luck, so all glory goes to the devil?” he queried rhetorically. “There is work”, the governor assured, as he thanked Dominion City founder, Dr. David Ogbueli, assuring the Church of partnership based on his administration’s Public Private Community Partnership – PPCP. “You have a partner in me,” Governor Soludo assured.
