The Chief Medical Director of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Dr. Maureen Umeakuewulu, has reemphasized her resolve to ensure that the hospital is compliant with standards and quality healthcare delivery that mirrors excellence. Speaking on this vision, the CMD commended the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, for his generous support and his steadfast commitment to Anambra State.
According to Dr. Maureen Umeakuewulu, the Governor is deeply concerned about Anambra State such that he is driven by the singular agenda of making Anambra a far better place than he met it. “With the Governor’s support, we have embarked on many renovations since I came in about four months ago, and we are still doing more. When I came in, there were some basic equipment we needed, and we have been buying. In addition, the Governor has made approvals for us to buy big equipment we need to improve our quality healthcare delivery. In the area of accreditation, the Governor’s support is maximum,” Dr. Umeakuewulu said.
Reflecting on this, the COOUTH CMD observed that given Governor Soludo’s weight of commitment to Anambra State, it is obvious that he has Anambra State in mind at all times. “He is always thinking of Anambra State,” Dr. Maureen said.
COOUTH recently came under some form of scrutiny; however, it is a consensus that under Governor Soludo, the conditions at the hospital have fundamentally transformed, as both staff members of the hospital and patients can attest.
Undeterred, Dr. Maureen Umeakuewulu said she is determined and focused on making COOUTH a standard hospital that speaks to nothing short of excellence, and for her, the journey has just begun.
