A Nigerian Professor, Adaeze Menakaya has been elevated to the position of Deputy permanent observer (projects and Coordination) to the permanent observer mission of the pan African intergovernmental Agency for water and sanitation for Africa to the United Nations.
In this capacity, she is expected to provide strategic advice on policy development, international cooperation, stakeholders engagements and institutional partnerships.
Her responsibilities also includes assisting the mission in fostering relationships with governments, intergovernmental organisations, diplomatic missions, development Agencies, private sector entities and other relevant stakeholders to advance the objectives of the United Nations on water and sanitation for Africa.
In a letter signed by His Excellency Dr Nabhit Kapur, permanent observer, observer mission of the pan African intergovernmental Agency on water and sanitation for Africa congratulated Her Excellency professor Adaeze JUNi Menakaya for attaining such a great feat, thirty – eight years when last a Nigerian occupied such position.
Ambassador professor Adaeze JUNi Menakaya is celebrated globally for her numerous achievements and contributions for the promotion of peace, social justice and the empowerment of women.

Her work with the United Nations is on diverse projects, coordinator of friends of mission of Grenada,a custodian of the prestigious Relevant Achievers impacting award of the United Nations (leadership category) 2024.
Ambassador Menakaya derives great fulfillments working with the United Nations and grassroots organisations, using international Women’s day as an outreach to launch global campaigns on hunger solutions and encourage women to return to agricultural self sufficiency.
According to her, she dreams of a world where women will be empowered children receive education while communities strive to make life better for the people.
