Traditional ruler of Adazi-Ani Ancient Kingdom, Igwe Dr. Chinedu Benson Madubuko has pledged to uphold the laws and regulations governing traditional institutions in Anambra State.
He also vowed to place the interests of Adazi-Ani and its people above his personal interests.
The royal father made the promise shortly after his coronation as Eze Chinechendo I of Adazi-Ani in a colourful ceremony that celebrated Igbo tradition, unity and community leadership.
The renowned businessman also promised to build on his previous contributions to the community, particularly in infrastructure, human capital development, peace and unity.
Expressing gratitude to God and the people for entrusting him with the traditional institution, Madubuko assured his people that his reign would bring even greater development.
President General of Adazi-Ani Town Union, Prof. Obikwelu Raphael Okonkwo explained that the crown was a representation of not merely honour, but responsibility, justice, wisdom and service to the people.
Describing the occasion as a new chapter in the history of the kingdom, Okonkwo urged people of the community at home and in diaspora to rally behind the new monarch as they collectively work towards peace, cultural preservation, economic growth, education and community development.
Also speaking, a renowned businessman Chief Godwin Okeke, described the monarch as a lover of peace and unity and prayed for longevity and good health for his reign.
According to him, Madubuko’s emergence represents fulfilment of the people’s desire for a leader whose commitment to the town’s transformation is already evident in infrastructure and human capital development.
The retired Archbishop of the Province of the Niger and former Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Most Rev. Godwin Okpala commended the new monarch’s passion for development as well as his record of service to the people.
He expressed confidence that Adazi-Ani would emerge as one of the most admired communities in the South-East.
The coronation, performed collectively by the three clans that make up Adazi-Ani, attracted dignitaries, traditional rulers, government representatives, clergy, business leaders, community stakeholders, friends and well-wishers from across Nigeria and beyond.
The State traditional institution was represented through the Anaocha Traditional Rulers Zone.
