Counselling Association of Nigeria (CASSON) has presented the Golden Jubilee Excellence in Education and Counselling Award to former Executive Chairman of Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB), Awka, Dr. Vera Nkiru Nwadinobi.
Nwadinobi was honored with the award together with other professional Counsellors who have distinguished themselves in the practice during the group’s 50th anniversary celebration in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State.
According to the organising committee of the golden jubilee celebration, Dr. Nwadinobi was pencilled for the award in recognition of her commitment and sparkling achievement in transforming the basic education sector and for establishing a functional counselling practice in Anambra State basic schools.
The event, themed: “Counselling Practice for Sustainable Livelihood and Development” attracted dignitaries from all walks of life such as top government functionaries, the Academia, and community leaders including the Governor of Akwa-Ibom State, His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno, and His Excellency, Ambassador Ita Enang who delivered the keynote address.
Others were the Senate President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Godswill Akpabio; Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji; the Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area, Dr. Uwemedimo Ude who is also the ALGON Chairman; and the National President of CASSON, Prof. Ike Ifelunnu, among others too numerous to mention.
The event also featured goodwill messages by Local Organising Committee Chairman, Prof. Ime George and National President, Prof. Ifelunu, 50th Anniversary Lecture presented by Chairman of CASSON Board of Trustees, Prof. Frank Carew, cultural display, free health check; cutting of the CASSON 50th anniversary cake, among other activities.
