The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, on Monday paid a condolence visit to the family of the popular public announcer and comedian, late Isaac Nwosu, popularly known as Azia Nwosu, who was murdered by yet-to-be-identified gunmen in Awka, the Anambra State capital.
In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Commissioner visited the bereaved family shortly after a two-hour closed-door strategic meeting with the Command’s strategic and operational officers.
The meeting formed part of ongoing efforts by the Command to reassess security strategies, review information and intelligence received from members of the public, particularly within Awka, and strengthen operational measures aimed at sustaining the fight against violent crime in the state.
Speaking during the condolence visit, CP Oji Ama described the late Isaac Nwosu, popularly known as Azia Nwosu, as an asset to Anambra State, noting that his death was a significant loss to the family, the community and the state at large.
The Commissioner said the deceased would be greatly missed by his family, friends and residents of Anambra State, as well as the Anambra State Police Command, particularly for his contributions to the Command’s security advocacy efforts and other activities aimed at promoting peace, public awareness and security consciousness across the state.
CP Oji Ama expressed the Command’s condolences to the bereaved family and acknowledged the pain and grief occasioned by the unfortunate incident.
The Commissioner further directed the relevant operational and investigative units of the Command to intensify efforts towards identifying, tracking and apprehending the perpetrators of the heinous crime.
Ikenga said the Commissioner reassured the bereaved family and residents of Anambra State that the Command would pursue the matter with determination and ensure that every available resource was deployed towards uncovering the circumstances surrounding the killing and bringing those responsible to justice.
The Commissioner also urged Ndi Anambra to remain calm and continue to believe in the integrity and professionalism of the Nigeria Police Force, assuring them that the Command would sustain its investigative and operational efforts until justice is served.
He appealed to members of the public, particularly residents within Awka and its environs, to provide the police with credible and useful information that could assist the investigation, stressing that the cooperation of the public remains critical to the successful prevention and detection of crime.
