The National Democratic Congress, NDC, has slammed Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State over his recent comments on former Governor Peter Obi, urging him to focus on fulfilling his campaign promises to the people of the state.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the party described the governor’s attack on Obi as disheartening and unbefitting of a professor.
The statement reads in part, “It is quite disheartening to see a professor descend to the gutter just in a bid to pull down one of his own. Could this be envy, pettiness, or desperation to satisfy his paymasters? Perhaps it is a combination of all.”
Osa Director further said, “Whatever the reason, it is unedifying, morally abominable, and intellectually grotesque for Soludo to seek to make Peter Obi look bad, even dragging in personal matters like being godfather to some of his children.”
The NDC spokesman challenged Governor Soludo to concentrate on his promise of developing Anambra State.
“Soludo should concentrate on delivering on his promise to turn Anambra State into Taiwan and Dubai. It is a lifelong dream he started nursing as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) when he delivered a keynote address in 2006 to the League of Anambra Professionals titled, ‘Anambra 2030: Envisioning the African Dubai, Taiwan and Silicon Valley (ADTS)’,” he said.
He added, “He used it as his campaign mantra in 2010 when he was unsuccessful in 2021 when he eventually won, and he is repeating it again for his re-election in 2025. But is Anambra State anywhere near those promises, even by his own conceptualization of it as ‘a metaphor for a highly productive and globally competitive Anambra’?”
Osa Director concluded, “Soludo should wake up and smell the coffee. Leave Peter Obi alone. A New Nigeria is POssible! We can do it!”
