UDUF Africa has charged young entrepreneurs, professionals and emerging leaders to embrace resilience, strategic thinking and continuous learning as essential ingredients for building sustainable businesses and achieving long-term success.
The call was made at the group’s September Business Meeting and Mentorship Session which brought together entrepreneurs and professionals for an engaging conversation on the realities of starting, building and growing a business.
The programme, held at AI Hub Africa, Onitsha, had as its theme, “The Business Journey: Starting, Struggling, Surviving and Succeeding — An Entrepreneur’s Story of Persistence, Resilience and Growth.”
The session focused on the practical realities of entrepreneurship, providing participants with insights into overcoming business challenges, adapting to changing environments and developing strategies for sustainable growth.
Speaking on the theme, Managing Director of Strong Africa Biz Network and His Presence Multiglobal Real Estate & Properties, Hon. Chioma Ugwu, shared practical lessons from the entrepreneurial journey, stressing the importance of persistence, resilience and the willingness to learn from setbacks.
She noted that entrepreneurship was not always a smooth journey, but required patience, consistency, strategic planning and the ability to remain focused despite difficult seasons.
According to her, challenges encountered in business could become valuable opportunities for learning and growth when approached with the right mindset.
The programme also featured a book review session, during which the Book of the Month, Your Next Five Moves: Master the Art of Business Strategy by Patrick Bet-David, was reviewed by the Chief Executive Officer of Blessed Doradew Enterprise, Uplifter Umeh Kelechukwu.
The review highlighted the importance of strategic thinking, effective decision-making, proper positioning and the ability of entrepreneurs to anticipate their next steps in an increasingly competitive business environment.
Participants were encouraged to apply the lessons from the book to both their businesses and personal development.
Another major component of the meeting was the Parliamentary Session, which provided members with an opportunity to deliberate on issues affecting UDUF Africa and contribute ideas towards strengthening the organisation.
The session also underscored the importance of active participation, teamwork, accountability and collective responsibility in achieving organisational goals.
In his remarks, Continental President of UDUF Africa, Uplifter Uchenna Christopher, urged members to remain committed to the vision and mission of the organisation.
He emphasised the importance of continuous learning, collaboration, mentorship and purposeful leadership, describing them as critical tools for building successful businesses and creating meaningful impact in society.
Uchenna said the strength of UDUF Africa extended beyond its programmes, noting that its greatest asset was the commitment of members to connect, inspire and transform one another.
He therefore encouraged young entrepreneurs to remain resilient, recognise opportunities and continually develop their skills and capacity.
Also speaking, Founder of UDUF Africa, Uplifter Ezuma Smart Chinedu urged participants to develop the right mindset and build the capacity required to navigate the different stages of entrepreneurship.
He noted that every successful entrepreneur goes through various phases of the business journey and advised participants not to be discouraged by the struggles associated with building a business.
According to him, challenges can provide opportunities for learning, transformation and growth when approached with determination and the right perspective.
The founder reaffirmed UDUF Africa’s commitment to creating platforms where young people can access knowledge, mentorship, networks and opportunities capable of transforming their ideas into meaningful impact.
The meeting also provided participants with an opportunity to network, share experiences, ask questions and establish relationships with other entrepreneurs and professionals.
Discussions during the networking and mentorship session centred on business challenges, emerging opportunities, leadership, personal development and strategies for achieving sustainable growth.
The organisers said the meeting strengthened entrepreneurial knowledge, encouraged strategic decision-making and promoted peer learning and collaboration among participants.
They added that the programme also encouraged young entrepreneurs to explore technology and emerging opportunities while reinforcing UDUF Africa’s commitment to youth and leadership development.
The September Business Meeting was held under UDUF Africa’s vision of “CONNECT • INSPIRE • TRANSFORM,” with a focus on helping individuals discover purpose, build capacity, overcome limitations and maximise their potential.
UDUF Africa expressed appreciation to Hon. Chioma Ugwu for sharing her entrepreneurial experience, Uplifter Umeh Kelechukwu for facilitating the book review, as well as the organisation’s leadership, members, volunteers, partners and participants for contributing to the success of the programme.
The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to providing platforms that equip young people with the knowledge, networks and mentorship needed to build sustainable businesses and contribute meaningfully to the development of Africa.
