It was jubilation galore in Njikoka Local Government Secretariat, Anambra state following restoration of electricity to the secretariat by the newly sworn in Chairman, Hon. (Dr.) Ikechukwu Okakpu after thirteen years of blackout.
Power supply to the Secretariat which was reportedly disconnected by the then Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) in 2013 was restored by the Mayor in less than one week in office.
The news expectedly brought joy among workers, who could hardly contain their happiness.
Overwhelmed with excitement, the workers rushed to the Mayor’s office to express their appreciation to him for the remarkable achievement.
“After 13 years without electricity at the secretariat, this development has brought renewed hope to us. Indeed, Solution is here!” exclaimed the visibly excited workers.
Responding, the Mayor assured the workers that the restoration of electricity was only the beginning, promising that better things were on the way to enable workers carry out their jobs seamlessly in the area.
“This is a new beginning under my leadership as far as people of Njikoka are concerned,” he added.
