Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing Worldwide has distanced itself from faceless Ohanaeze Youth Forum and Agwu-awa Malachy respectively over mischievous publication alleging partisanship against the National Commissioner, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in charge of Anambra, Ebonyi and Imo- Dr. Ken Nnamdi Ukaegbu.
Global Youth Leader, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, in a statement on Thursday said the publication was targeted at misinforming, misleading and inciting unsuspecting public.
He said the move was also aimed at causing security bleach and discouraging people from undertaking their civil responsibility, urging the public to disregard the fallacy.
The statement partly reads, “The attention of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing Worldwide has been drawn to the mischievous publication, credited to a nonexistent and faceless Ohanaeze Youth Forum and Agwu-awa Malachy respectively; alleging partisanship against the INEC National Commissioner in charge of Anambra, Ebonyi and Imo- Dr. Ken Nnamdi Ukaegbu.
“Ordinarily we would not accord credence to the baseless and fallacious publication with our response.
“But for the innocent public, the peculiarity and volatility of the South East geopolitical zone, we thus deem it necessary to state categorically that this is impersonation and mischief, targeted at misinforming, misleading and inciting the unsuspecting public.
“The aim is to cause security bleach and discourage our people from undertaking their civil responsibility. We herby urge the leading public to disregard this fallacy.
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide ably led by the renowned President General- Distinguished Senator Azuta Mbata, is a non-Partisan apex Igbo socio-cultural Organization committed to the security, welfare, promotion and protection of Ndigbo and Igbo cultures and values; with her Youth Wing led by Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu- Global Youth Leader, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing Worldwide.
“There is nothing like Ohanaeze Youth Forum. We therefore frown at attempt to misiform and mislead Nigerians by impersonating the apex Igbo Youth body and hereby sternly warn the impersonator and cohorts to immediately desist from such a futile and dangerous venture.
“We shall leave no stone unturned in ensuring that those behind this attempt shall not go untouched in line with the provisions of the law.
“We therefore call on the security Agencies, especially the renowned intelligence unit of the State Security Service to swing into action in order to nip impending danger in the bud, as the impersonation of the apex Igbo body- Ohanaeze Ndigbo, is capable of inciting our people and undermining National Security.
“We call on every Igbo Youth across Nigeria to continue to be peaceful and to be conscious and cautious of these mischief makers whose aim is to cause confusion and misrepresent the apex Igbo Socio-cultural Organization- Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.
“We urge the electoral umpire INEC and the Security Agencies especially the Police not to rescind nor compromise on their mandate in order not decline nor disappoint the confidence of Nigerians in their readiness to conduct a successfully credible, transparent, free and fair elections in 2027.”
