Young Anambra entrepreneur, web developer, product designer and brand consultant, Mr. Chinedu Okonkwo has launched a multi-functional smart business card- Kedu Card. Mr. Okonkwo who is also the founder of Brandtoon Communications hails from Ezem village in Lilu town, Ihiala local government area of Anambra state. The digital card named ‘Kedu’ is a smart business card that aims to displace paper cards.
Speaking on the importance of a virtual card, Mr. Chinedu Okonkwo said, “business cards still play vital role in passing professional information and establishing lasting connections but paper cards are losing value because they aren’t keeping up with the demands that modern networking requires”. According to him, the Kedu virtual card debuts to increase the functions of a business card, allowing business people to have the option of sharing a lot of information about themselves and their businesses to their prospective customers. This is a clear departure from the normal 2 by 3.5 inches paper business card common in this clime with scanty information.
“The paper business cards are always in 2 by 3.5 inches sizes. It places limitations on businesses on the amount of vital information they can make available to customers. You can only add your name and a few contact details to the card and that’s all. If you try to add more information, you risk cluttering your business card and making it less presentable. But a kedu card gives you no limit on how you can express yourself, tell your story, show who you are, your contact details, sell your products, collect payment and do more”, he said.
On the reason for the name, ‘Kedu’, Mr. Okonkwo explained that every business meeting commences with exchange of greetings like hi, hello and kedu in Igbo language, so his team decided to use to the Igbo word for greeting as a suitable name for the virtual card.
The most exciting aspect of Kedu business card is the function of allowing customers to save business card on their phone automatically like a mobile app. What this means is that entrepreneurs can now take their business straight to where their customers spend most of their time which is their mobile phone. This will indeed increase business transactions and sales for lots of businesses.
One significant benefit of the digital business cards is that they can be used both offline and online and it is also enabled to perform e-commerce transactions. This is a game changer for a lot of businesses.
An interesting feature of the card is the incorporation of a Near-Field Communication chip, NFC in them. The NFC is a set of communication protocols that enables communication between two electronic devices over a distance of 4 cm or less. The technology allows users to make secure transactions, exchange digital content, and connect electronic devices with a touch.
Mr. Okonkwo stated that they have started marketing the virtual card to a lot of companies and expect it will diffuse in the country soon because of its multiple functions and benefits.
