Briefing newsmen, the organisers stated that the nominees are products of long search for excellence and not a spontaneous choice.
” It took us about 6 months to understudy activities in various sectors before coming with these names particularly the categories not subjected for voting. These are men and women who have made tremendous impact in their different endeavours; They are not just qualified for Anambra man of the year award but are well eligible for national honour” . They noted.
Speaking on the desiderata for their selection, the organisers confirmed that in the case of Dr Steve Ufoaroh, while some ASUU chapters were downing tools which usually affect the academic flow of the students, he has instead continued to mobilize colleagues for projects and has even instituted scholarships schemes for brilliant but indigent students. This is unheard of in Nigeria.
They equally confirmed that Engr Agbili, Anambra Fire Chief was nominated as public servant of the year for being a proactive and pragmatic leader who has risen to the occasion of giving practical solutions to fire challenges in Anambra through his innovations and prompt service delivery.
Speaking further, the organisers added that Prof Uzochukwu Solomon was chosen for creating, through continuous dialogue,an enabling environment for private schools to thrive particularly in bridging the gap and the rancour which hitherto exist between government and the private schools. They stated that Prof Uzochukwu Solomon has been a champion of innovative education through improved and qualitative curriculum which has helped in no small way in bridging the gap between the quality of education in the private and public schools.
On Chief Mrs Amaka Ezechiedo, the Sparkles Tent and Deco CEO,the organisers commended Mrs Ezechiedo for the constant innovations she has continued to introduce in the events industry and described her as a pacesetter, adding that her success in business as a woman will serve as an inspiration to other younger women to take a leap in entrepreneurship and make a success out of it.
