Over the weekend, Anambra witnessed the unveiling of one of the emerging estates around Awka territory, The Genesis City. The estate which is being developed by a young Anambrarian, Mr. Chimezie Okeke, CEO CADLAND Group is being developed on over 150 plots of land in Amansea, Awka North Local Government Area.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Cadlands group, Mr Chimezie Okeke said that the features of the estate will include perimeter fence, estate gate house, security house, electricity, drainages, recreational and educational facilities, road and water. He explained that the reason the group decided to invest in the state was to provide genuine and affordable lands and houses for clients and equally assist in reducing the risks associated in property acquisition.
In his own speech, the Anambra State Commissioner for Housing, Architect Michael Okonkwo, commended Mr. Chimezie Okeke for taking this bold step and urged other investors to toe the same line by answering to the Akulueuno call of Obiano’s administration.
He expressed satisfaction with the work done so far in the estate adding that he believed that the incoming administration will continue support this kind of project which is geared towards the development of the state.
In his own submission, the State Commissioner for Lands, Mr. Bonaventure Enemali, noted that the project is timely particularly at this critical time there is influx of people in Anambra State because of the expectation Anambrarians have for the incoming administration towards making Anambra a livable city. He commended Governor Obiano for the way his administration empowered a lot of young people in diverse sectors to reach their potentials and expressed joy that real estate development business in the State has continued to be driven by young people.
Joining other speakers, the Chairman of the occasion, Professor A.U Nonyelu of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, stated he was inspired by the vision of Mr. Chimezie Okeke and his team adding that at the age he started, the sky will be his starting point in no time.
He further explained that Genesis city will be a catalyst of other development when finally completed and thanked the host community for their co-operation.
High points of the event was the cutting of tape, presentation of a live goat to the head of Umuenuagu family Amansea, Chief Bernard Okeke on behalf of the traditional owners of the land for successful transfer of title to the land as tradition demands and the blessing of the Genesis city by Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Dr Paulinus Ezeokafor.
