Four-time champions of the Chuma Anosike Cup, Anambra offset Enugu to become winners of the 11th edition of Nigeria’s longest cricket competition in Umuahia, Abia state capital on Thursday, ANAMBRA PEOPLE reports.
Anambra men scored an unexpected total of 186 runs, thanks to a brilliant batting display by Destiny Eghosa who added 60 runs to the tally.
Eghosa won Player of the Match and Fielder of the tournament awards.
Enugu had a tall order as they chase 187 runs. They were slowed down by tactful Anambra fielders. However, Temple Orji gave the Coal City boy a splitter of hope as he scored 21 runs off 20 balls. His effort was too little, too late.
Enugu’s total was 116 runs and all out in 18.2 overs
