Anambra State Governor,Prof Chukwuma Soludo is almost at the final stage of plans to create over 1000 Millionaires in the State in the waste management industry.

ANAMBRA PEOPLE gathered that apart from security, waste management is another issue which disturbs the governor and he is leaving no stone unturned in the bid to rid the State of Waste.

Our Source confirmed that the governor understands very well the problem and complexity in waste management and has continued to brainstorm with stakeholders in the sector on the best and sustainable way to go about waste collection in the state.

Part of government resolve is to decentralise Waste Management and allow more private participation in the sector. The governor is also looking at a way to make the business so lucrative that it will become very attractive for young people thereby keeping them gainfully employed and taking them off the streets.

This initiative is part of the campaign promise of the governor to create massive jobs for Ndi Anambra and equally maintain a clean and liveable city.

Recently , government has made announcement through the media calling upon companies with capacity in the waste management sector to join the bidding process for waste collection slots.

Government is also not just looking at waste collection but at the total value chain in the industry which include logistics, recycling, upcycling etc

Anambra state government is equally working to see how it could begin to empower the local governments in the state to drive waste management and that is part of the reform the governor talked about in the local government during his inaugural address.
