Governor of Anambra, Prof Charles Soludo, says Christianity is facing a major threat in his state.

The Governor, in company of his Deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, made the call while speaking at the yearly prayer rally organised by Anglican Communion, Province of the Niger, held in Awka, Anambra State capital.

To combat the practice of idolatry in the state, he urged Christians to unite.

“Idolatry is the religion that is expanding the fastest. Idolatry is a serious challenge to Christianity. And in order to overcome it, we must work together, he said.

Soludo thanked the worldwide Anglican Communion for taking the wonderful step of organizing yearly prayers in the state.

It will never be taken for granted that Anambra state is still a Christian society, he claimed, in spite of everything.

In addition to prayers, Soludo thinks that the church must collaborate with the government to combat insecurity and other antisocial problems facing the nation.

He asserted that the church, the people, and society all have important responsibilities to play and ought to involved in the war against insecurity.

The people are living in dangerous times, the Archbishop of the Province of the Niger and Bishop of the Diocese of Awka Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim remarked earlier in his lecture titled “Watch and Pray.”

Noting that human nature cannot please God, he urged the government’s officials to draw nearer to God in order to receive spiritual guidance.

He claimed that “our leaders are observing with their hands and not with their hearts.”
