Yesterday, the 19th of December, 2022, the wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr Mrs Nonye Soludo hosted motherless children in the Governor’s Lodge in Amawbia, Anambra State.
This is a yearly event for the current Anambra State First Family, through which their love for the less privileged in the society is being expressed.
The Governor’s wife, in an amazing humility and exceptional candour, has been an epitome of empathy and compassion.
In her remarks, she said; “we do this to give them a sense of belonging, and I will continue to do this here in order to make them know that the Governor’s Lodge is not only for the high and mighty, but also for the lowly in the society”. “In fact, to the less privileged, this is a home outside their home”.
The wife of the Governor was seen dancing with the children, their caregivers, and staff who brought them to the Lodge, attending to the kids like she would to the offsprings of her own womb. It was indeed, beautifully astounding.
There were moments of talent shows from the kids, as they engaged in dancing competition, sit-dance competition, balloon play, and other games that threw the hall into boisterous jubilations.
The first family shared their food and drinks with them, and packed each and every child with Christmas gifts of all kinds.
The first lady took time to go through a one on one interaction with the kids to ascertain their uninfluenced and unbiased feelings about their stay in their care home, and commended the caregivers as she took notice of the wellness of the children under their care.
Lady Edna Obiakor who took inspiration from Proverbs 19:17, which says; “Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will repay him for his deed”, described Her Excellency as exemplary, and as a role model for every woman in the State, both married and single. She termed the event, beautiful and refreshing. She further advised the privileged in the society to continue to take leaves from the books of the first family to strive towards egalitarianism and to remember always, that they are only but caretakers to their wealth, as it is meant for services to God and humanity.
The Soludos’ were largely present, as Chinöó, Zikora, and Odukó were seated with their mother, enjoying the moments and observing their mum, while Adaora and the elderly ones were seen helping their mother in the activities. It was indeed, marvelous.
To Asiegbunam Precious, the woman incharge of the motherless children, the Governor’s wife will be like tomorrow that never gets old, her blessing like tomorrow that never gets exhausted. She was obviously in awe of the First Lady who to her, is the embodiment of the ideal motherliness. Her joy is indescribable.
To Chimamanda, one of the winners of the dance competition, ” we love our Governor’s wife”
To Emeka another winner in one of the games, “we are doing Christmas here”. Such was the excitement in them.
As the event came to a close, the First Lady bade them farewells and wished them a merry Christmas in advance.
