The Managing Director of People’s Bookshop Limited, Ogbuehi Pius Egwuekwe, has finally regained his freedom after seven days of captivity in kidnappers den, after being abducted in front of his palatial home in Umuchu town, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.
ANAMBRA PEOPLE reports that Ogbuehi Egwuekwe was released on Sunday morning 1st January, 2023 and was said to have been reunited with his family.
It was not certain if any ransom was paid by his family after he was whisked away by the bandits in front of his house and taken to an unknown place for several days.
The abduction of Ogbuehi Egwuekwe was said to have caused serious tension in his village, Ibughubu Umuchu, as many indigenes who had wanted to travel home for the Christmas and New Year celebrations had to reschedule and stayed away over fear of being kidnapped. Various churches in the community were also said to have gone into prayers asking God to intervene so that he can be rescued alive because he is loved by his community for his generosity.
Before the ugly incident, he reportedly drove all the way from Zaria in the Northern part of Nigeria with his driver to his village in Ibughubu,Umuchu to celebrate the Christmas and New Year with his family.
However, everything turned to a sad experience for both his family and the entire community when he got home and was about to enter his gate before some armed men accosted the driver at gun point, forcefully opened the vehicle and took him away to an unknown location.
Some suspected that it was an insider who may have leaked information of his return with his driver to the village.
Ogbuehi Pius Egwuekwe is a successful businessman, who has touched many lives in the community by attending to their material and health needs and it left no one surprised how the entire community turned to prayer warriors hoping for his release.
