Scrap dealer stabbed to death over N1,600 in Anambra
A scrap dealer has been stabbed to death by his friends over N1,600 at Tarzan junction axis, Nkpor in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, ANAMBRA PEOPLE reports.
The deceased was said to have had a prolonged brawl with his colleagues over sharing the formula of the said amount which prompted the intervention of a master trader that resolved the crisis.
According to an eyewitness, the assailants invited the deceased to a drinking joint aimed at luring him to kill him, an invitation he turned down.
“The deceased ignored the invitation knowing fully well their intention as the resolution was not in their favour.
“They eventually caught him on his bike, same day, held him tight before one of them stabbed him on his neck and head with a broken bottle. He immediately slumped while the assailants fled,” he said.
It was gathered the body of the deceased, a native of Ebonyi State, has been deposited at Iyi-Enu hospital morgue, Ogidi, by the police who reportedly have concluded arrangements for autopsy.
Mother to the deceased was said to have demanded for justice.
The Ogidi Divisional Police Officer, Sani Ahmed (CSP), who confirmed the incident said the corpse has been deposited in the morgue, while efforts were on to arrest the fleeing assailants.
“The corpse of the deceased has been deposited in the morgue. None of the suspects has been arrested, but we have commenced manhunt for them. We will get them,” he assured.
