Following recent dissolution of the 11th governing council of Federal Polytechnic, Oko, the Federal Government has appointed new members with Chima I. Chima, as chairman. AnambraPeople reports.
Other members of the board expected to form the 12th governing council are Joe Alakiri, Afolabi Joel Olusayo, Isa Bakari Yarima and Aminu Ramalan Zaria.
Meanwhile, in accordance with the amended Polytechnic Act 2019, the polytechnic community, alumni association as well as the host community are expected to submit new list of their elected representatives to complete the required number of members for inauguration slated to hold soon.
A source, in the Federal Ministry of Education, said the appointment of the new council members takes immediate effect, and all appointees are expected to resume duties in earnest.
The polytechnic had witnessed series of abrupt dissolution of its councils by the Federal Government due to the incessant disquiet arising from irregular activities of council members.
The polytechnic’s governing councils were abruptly dissolved in 2019, 2022 and on May 26, 2023.
The source disclosed hopes are high that the new council would bring in their wealth of experience in peace-building and development of the polytechnic.
