The amount of sugar in the human body is controlled by a hormone called insulin. If the level of sugar in the body is too high, it can lead to various ailments like diabetes, obesity, and even cardiovascular disease. To prevent this, controlling the production of insulin is essential. There are many foods that can help in boosting the production of insulin in the body and help in getting rid of excess sugar naturally. We will discuss some of the foods that help in boosting production of insulin and also to help get rid of excess sugar naturally.

What is insulin?

Insulin is a hormone that helps the body control the amount of glucose (sugar) in the blood. It is produced in the pancreas, and when glucose levels rise, the pancreas releases insulin. This insulin helps to move the glucose from the blood into the cells where it can be used for energy. Not enough insulin, or not enough sensitivity to it, can result in high levels of glucose in the blood and result in diabetes.

Foods That Boost Insulin Production

There are many foods that are known to boost the production of insulin in the body and help in getting rid of excess sugar. Some of these are as follows:

a. Whole grains

Whole grains are an excellent source of complex carbohydrates, which can help to stimulate the production of insulin in the body. Whole grains are also rich in minerals and vitamins which can help in the absorption of glucose by the cells. Some examples of whole grains include brown rice, oats, barley, and quinoa.

b. Legumes

Legumes are another great source of complex carbohydrates. Eating legumes can help boost the production of insulin and also lower the glycemic index of other foods. Examples of legumes can be kidney beans, black beans, soybeans, lentils, and split peas.

c. Nuts

Nuts are a good source of monounsaturated fats and can help in boosting production of insulin. Nuts like almonds, walnuts, and peanuts are good choices as they can help in the absorption of glucose and also help in maintaining healthy blood sugar levels.

d. Leafy Greens

Leafy green vegetables are loaded with vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber, which can help to keep the blood sugar levels stable. They are also a good source of magnesium, which helps to regulate insulin levels and improve the functions of insulin. Some examples of leafy greens are lettuce, spinach, kale, and Swiss chard.

e. Fruits

Fruits are high in natural sugars but have a low glycemic index, which can help in controlling the production of insulin. They are also packed with fiber and other important nutrients which can help in the absorption of glucose. Fruits like apples, oranges, and berries are good choices as they help to stabilize blood sugar levels.

f. Cinnamon

Cinnamon is known to be a natural insulin booster. Studies have suggested that it can help in increasing the body’s sensitivity to insulin, thus helping in controlling blood sugar levels. It can be added to cereals, oatmeal, or infused in teas.

Foods that can help to boost the production of insulin and help in getting rid of excess sugar are all important. Eating foods like whole grains, legumes, nuts, leafy greens, fruits, and cinnamon can help in regulating the amount of glucose in the blood. It is important to maintain healthy eating habits and to add these types of food in the diet in order to control blood sugar levels and to reduce the risk of diabetes.
