Rotary Club of Awka Government Residential Area (GRA) District 9142, has conferred an excellent Community Service Award In Academic Development and Empowerment to Dr. Stephen Uchenna Ufoaroh, the Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka branch.
The award was in appreciation of his humanitarian works towards humanity, the University community and the society at large.
The occasion which took place at Milatel Hotel Awka, over the weekend, also witnessed the induction of new members into the Rotary fold.
Speaking of the recognition, the Unizik-ASUU Chairman, Dr. Ufoaroh, said the award will spur him the more on his service to humanity.
According to him, “I commend the Rotary Club for recognising the little work I have done within my capacity in this world. I feel happy. I am encouraged and challenged to do more for humanity.
“I will work with the Rotary Club to ensure that the club continues its services to humanity, especially, less privileged ones in the society,” Ufoaroh pledged.
The immediate past President Rtn Danason Ndubuisi, in his speech, thanked Club members for the support and pledged his unalloyed support to the Visionary President to do more greater things in the Community than he did.
Ndubuisi noted that during his tenure, the club contributed a lot to assisting humanity and appealed for support to the new President and his team.
In his inaugural speech, the 2023/2024 Visionary President, Rtn Ugo Benitez Ibeanu, solicited for the support of everyone to enable the Club succeed in all her mapped out Service Projects for the year 2023.
Ibeanu, who is the 22nd President of the District, vowed that under his watch, the club will make its impact felt in the health sector by assisting the physically-challenged and flood victims whenever the need arises.
He called on all members to be part of the crusade to make life more meaningful for the less privileged in the society.
