The government of Anambra State has warned residents against heeding to unlawful calls for sit at home in any part of the state.
Anambra and 4 other states that make up the South East region have been in the news for cases of destruction of life and property following periodic sit at home orders being issued in the area by non-state actors.
Sequel to this development, the state government has issued a statement calling on the good people of the state to disregard any of such others issued by unauthorised individuals or groups, noting that the state government will never yield to such directives for any reason whatsoever.
The governor who made this known through his Chief Press Secretary Mr Christian Aburime in a statement noted the negative impacts of such orders which he described as counterproductive and inimical to effective development of the state.
He however maintained his position on public restrictions that tends to dwindle the people’s income and undermine government’s plans to provide a livable homeland for Ndi Anambra.
The statement read in part; “Anambra State Government under the able leadership of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, will never yield to non-State actors on any illegal sit-at-home orders.
“Simon Ekpa is a fugitive and rabble rouser who should be completely ignored by the citizens of Anambra and by extension the entire South East.
“As for the imposition of sit-at-home orders by unauthorised individuals or groups, it is a clear violation of the law and Anambra State will never observe any sit-at-home order by a Simon Ekpa.
“Our markets, schools, businesses and other social activities will remain open.
“Anambra State will never be a breeding ground for anarchy, fear or lawlessness”, he said.
