Dr. Chike Obidigbo, a respected entrepreneur from Anambra State and a previous gubernatorial candidate, has been a prominent voice amid current tensions among the Igbo community. Dr. Obidigbo issued a thought-provoking challenge in response to the controversial statements made by former Niger Delta insurgent commander Asari Dokubo in an interview with a national newspaper, THE SUN.

Dokubo allegedly demanded that Ndigbo be given the freedom to choose how they would live together in Nigeria going forward. Dr. Obidigbo asked the crucial issue of whether Dokubo actually supports his cause or is only driven by self-interest, maybe including the succession of abandoned Igbo assets, rather than simply dismissing Dokubo’s comments.

Asari Dokubo may be considering the Igbo properties that would be declared abandoned and the amount of such he will inherit, Dr. Obidigbo said in a challenge to Dokubo to collect one million signatures in favour of his goal. Even so, he will be inspired to continue gathering the one million signatures necessary to expel Ndigbo and her neighbours from Nigeria.
