Joy as Esimone moves UNIZIK from 4494 to1500 in world rankings

University Ranking: UNIZIK Clinches 10th Position, Merits Better – VC

Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka Anambra State, has moved from 4494th position to 1500th position in the latest world University rankings for 2024.

The University also came 12th position in Nigeria in the rankings.

This has triggered jubilation in the university as it was seen as a great feat achieved by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Charles Esimone who set the task for himself on assumption to office in 2019 to bring the University to world reckoning.

A member of the university community who spoke to our correspondent just quipped,”THE world University rankings for 2024, UNIZIK ranked in Category A at number 12 position in Nigeria and in the 1500 band in the world.

“This is a great jump from 4494 in the world in 2019 and a success story for Project 200 and this administration led by our VC Prof. Charles Esimone.”

The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking 2024 results were released a few hours ago.
The ranking of the participating Nigerian Universities are as follows:

The Nigerian Universities of the Main Ranking Status:

  1. Covenant University, Ota (801-1000)
  2. University of Ibadan (801-1000)
  3. Federal University of Technology Akure (1000-1200)
  4. University of Lagos (1000-1200)
  5. Bayero University Kano (1201-1500)
  6. University of Ilorin (1201-1500)
  7. Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (1501+)
  8. University of Benin (1501+)
  9. Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (1501+)
  10. Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso (1501+)
  11. Lagos State University Ojo (1501+)
  12. Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (1501+)
  13. Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife (1501+)
