The Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Entertainment in Anambra State, Comrade Don Onyenji, has said that he doubts if anybody in Anambra State can challenge Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo in terms of credibility, capacity and vision.
Onyenji also said that Governor Soludo has constructed the highest number of roads in Nigeria in less than 2 years in office.
Onyenji, who stated this in his office at the state secretariat complex Awka during an exclusive interview with our correspondent, said at the very last count, there are over 400 kilometers of roads under construction across Anambra State.
The Commissioner, who stated that rather than cast aspersions on the efforts of the governor as clearly evident in his developmental approach, the governor should be encouraged for his resilience, commitment and resolve to give a befitting facelift to Anambra with critical road infrastructure.
He said it is only those who are not resident in Anambra State that would rate the governor low in his performance just to score cheap political points but the truth of the matter, according to him, remains that Governor Soludo is blazing the trail in road construction in the country.
He said the road from Amansea to Oba-Ofemili in Awka-North, Amansea-Awa-Uga connecting Awka-North, Orumba-North and Aguata Local Government areas are super quality roads. Then the roads under construction at Igboukwu in Aguata and Okpoko in Ogbaru council areas are roads being constructed with dexterity including roads being constructed in Onitsha too.
The Commissioner also stated that apart from road construction, massive renovations are ongoing in the three major general hospitals and other health facilities in the state. He said the governor has given jobs to over 5000 people in the teaching profession; that another 3000 teachers would be employed for the primary school system in the state.
Onyenji equally disclosed that sooner or later, Governor Soludo would give money to about 5000 youths who have successfully graduated from the One Youth Two Skills Capacity Building Programme of the state government to establish themselves and reduce unemployment.
He said there are so many positive developments in all the sectors of the economy and that the governor is also building a road in the interiors of Aguleri-Otu to connect a world class youth viewing centre the governor plans to site in the area even as he pointed out too that the governor plans to connect Omor in Ayamelum with a bridge from Amansea-Ebenebe-Oba-Ofemili in Awka-North Local Government Area.
Onyenji, who is a foremost broadcaster, stressed that Governor Soludo is the best thing to happen to Anambra State at this critical time of her history, adding that his palliatives are the best in the country while other state governors consult him for advice.
He said debts owed pensioners in 2018 are currently being paid by Governor Soludo and he is also ensuring that those who retired within his administration are being paid their pensions and gratuities.
He said past presidents including the current president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Bola Ahmed Tinubu has consulted Governor Soludo for advice on how best to run the country on the pathway of economic prosperity and viable fiscal policies.
He said Anambra should be proud to celebrate their heroes and not to vilify them for nothing, adding that nobody in Anambra State can challenge Soludo in terms of credibility, capacity and vision.
