10 College Students bag First Class in UNIZIK

No fewer than 10 students of the College graduated in First Class Division for the 2021/2022 academic session at the ongoing convocation ceremonies of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. One of the students, Azolibe Cynthia Chinemerem of Biology Education finished tops with a Final Cumulative Grade Point Average (FCGPA) of 4.79.

Among the top performers was Ogunjiofor Njideka Juliet of Business Education with a FCGPA of 4.78, while Nwafor Blessing Nkechinyere of Education Management and Policy had 4.76. Another student of Biology Education, Agba Ujunwa Maryann had 4.73, while Ofodile Mmesoma Gloria of Biology Education graduated with 4.70 FCGPA.

Okpalachukwu Chiamaka Eucharia of Mathematics Education also made the honours list with her FCGPA of 4.58, along with Ikejiogu Perpetua Oluchi of Physics Education, who had 4.56. Ike Oluchukwu Euphemia of Chemistry Education had 4.55, while her course-mate, Oranye Somtochukwu Ijeoma clinched 4.53 FCGPA.

From Business Education came Nwankwo Chidimma Goodluck with a Final Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.51 to join the champions league.

A review of past degree results of College students indicated a remarkable improvement in their performance, with female students dominating. In the 2020/2021 academic session, five students graduated with First Class result, with Sunday-Onwukwe Perpetua Chizoba of Physics Education having the highest FCGPA of 4.70. This was followed by Okoye Marygrace Chinyere of Early Childhood and primary Education with 4.68.

Other First Class students during the session include: Muoka Joy Chinazo of Education Management and Policy (4.64), Mbanefo Ifeoma Augustina of Education Management and Policy (4.54), and Okeke Onyedikachi Annastecia (4.52).

In the 2020/2021 session, Education Management and Policy produced the highest number of First Class students.

In the 2019/2020 academic session, four College students bagged First Class. Top on the table was Igwe Peace Chinecherem of Chemistry Education with 4.65 Final Cumulative Grade Point Average. This was followed by Uyanwunne Honourita Nkemakonam of Physics Education with 4.56. Ezika Chidimma Joy and Nweke Kamsobechukwu Perpetua of Biology Education graduated with 4.54 FCGPA respectively. Biology Education also took the lead by producing the highest number of First Class students.

Aside these First Class students, best graduating students emerged from different departments for the 2021/2022 session. Onwudiwe Chioma Jessica graduated in second class upper division as best student in Computer Science with 4.38 FCGPA. Okafor Benedicta Amarachi of Com/Coop had 4.02 to win the best graduating student prize. Okika Joy Eberechukwu of OTM had 4.34 to emerge the best graduating student, while Daniel Favour Chibundo of Library and Information Science had 4.20 respectively.

Nwuba Chidiebere Jennifer emerged the best in Inter Science with 3.82FCGPA, while Umunjamma Godswill Chukwukodinaka of Electrial/Electronics was the best student with 4.29 FCGPA.

Reacting to this development, the Provost, Prof Theresa Okoli, congratulated the students on their outstanding performance, describing it as a true validation of the commitment of teaching staff in the College. She noted that the huge investment in learning infrastructure in the College has yielded the desired result and thanked the funding agencies like TETFund for supporting the College.

The Provost promised that the College would not rest on her oars in maintaining an excellent template that would produce higher number of students with First Class results. She advised other students of the College to follow the footprints of these First Class graduates and study diligently for better results.
