Governor Of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has made a donation of 300 million to the newly established University on the Niger.

Governor Soludo said the donation was a support by government for the smooth take off of University on the Niger, UNINIGER, projects.

Bishop on the Niger, Right Revd Dr Owen Nwokolo, disclosed this
during the collation of seven Canons and five Archdeacons at All Saints Cathedral, Onitsha, recently. He described the gesture as first of its kind, noting that the State Government has been supporting education at different levels.

He praised Soludo for seeing the church as partners in progress, and encouraged him to do more, describing education as the liberating power of the nation.

He charged the new Canons and Archdeacon to see their elevation as a call to more service.

Earlier in his sermon captioned “Kingdom Exploits” the Archdeacon, Inland Town Archdeaconry, Venerable Okechukwu Ukpeke urged the newly elevated priests to be ambassadors of Christ through their life styles, and develop a strong representation wherever they find themselves.

One of the new Canons and Archdeacons, Reverend Canon Chijioke Okpalakunne and Venerable Chinedu Nnatuanya, thanked God for the elevation and expressed commitment to the growth of the Diocese.

The newly elevated priests took oath of office before their installation; amidst cheers from the congregation that filled the Cathedral to capacity.

The service attracted dignitaries and top government officials, including the Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Somtoo Udeze, among others.
