The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of Exceptional Western Kiddies Nursery and Primary school, Awada Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State has debunked social media reports of alleged serial killing/ abduction of pupils of the institution by a gateman.
It described the story as not only unfounded but the handiwork of the enemies of the school.
Speaking with our correspondent on the school premises , the PTA faulted the news circulating on social media where the school was accused of having harboured one Echegwo Samuel in the school for human parts deals, describing the story as an attempt to rubbish the image of the institution.
Keeping the record straight, the spokesperson of the PTA who gave his name as Dr. Cosmos Ofoka stated categorically that Echegwo Samuel who hails from Oguta in Imo State was employed as a gateman in the school.
Ofoka noted that the PTA was aware that the Echegwo engaged in external business outside his engagement with the school.
Ofoka said, “Echegwo Samuel was employed by the school management as a gateman and for the years he worked, no pupil has ever got missing or molested in the hands of the gateman, and one wonders where someone whom his children nor wards are not in the school should come up with a-nonexisting, concocted and fabricated story against the school by portraying that the gateman used to lure pupils into one of the rooms where he killed and had them cut into pieces.
“The fact remains that the school gateman had an agreement with the school management that he was to engage himself with his private business during weekends and when schools are not in season, thus having made him rent a warehouse at number 62A Nwaziki where he sells fish and crayfish and also kept his alleged kidnap victim(s) and nothing incriminating against our school (Exceptional Western Kiddies Nursery and Primary school) was found on him when he was arrested by the police”.
Urging members of the public to disregard the non-existent story flying on Facebook and other social media outlets, the PTA said someone might have been paid to use the barbaric act of the already sacked gateman of the school to run Exceptional Western Kiddies Nursery and Primary school down with emphasis that the image smearing article had motivated the school management to brace-up in further engagement of any staff.
It was gathered that the school management was working round the clock to put a sound security network in the school, having employed a security man with a confirmed identity as another security guard.
Efforts made to reach the Directress of the school at the time of filing this report were not fruitful as calls put across to her GSM line kept repeating ‘not available now, call back later’.
A source in the Rapid Response Squad, RRS stationed at the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Awkuzu, confided in this reporter that Echegwo Samuel would face the full wrath of the law in the kidnapping cum selling of human parts allegation against him.
