In the years since the APGA government was established in 2006, Anambra has experienced unprecedented progress. The spirit of progressivism, which is deeply ingrained in the ethos of our political party, the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), has been the driving force behind this success.
When Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo took office as Governor of Anambra State on March 17, 2022, he made a solemn declaration that every resource belonging to the people of Anambra would be utilized effectively for their benefit. On his first day in office, he wasted no time and worked tirelessly for eight consecutive hours, yielding positive results for the state.
Governor Soludo, fondly referred to as Charly Nwamgbafor, is a servant leader who understands the aspirations and needs of the people and confronts them head-on. It is worth noting that Governor Soludo came prepared with a comprehensive blueprint for transforming our beloved state into a smart and livable mega-city that can rival other developed cities around the world.
The name of Governor Soludo is synonymous with development, as he has a strong inclination for excellence and the seamless advancement of our state using its available resources. He is a solution-oriented individual whose commitment to change is grounded in practical solutions.
As we celebrate the two-year mark of Governor Soludo’s dynamic leadership in Anambra State, it is worth acknowledging the incredible strides he has made. He has awarded contracts for over 450 kilometers of road networks across the state’s three senatorial zones, providing initial mobilization payments of 50% to the contractors. He has also commissioned over 240 kilometers of roads out of the total awarded. To ensure that development reaches every corner of the state, the Governor ensured that every local government receives a fair share of the massive ongoing road construction projects.
Furthermore, Governor Soludo has employed over 8,000 teachers to address the issue of inadequate staffing in schools, providing valuable employment opportunities to our youth and graduates. He has also implemented free and compulsory education for students from nursery school to Junior Secondary School (JS III) in state-owned schools.
In the healthcare sector, Governor Soludo has employed over 1,500 healthcare workers, including doctors, midwives, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. This has put an end to the problem of understaffed hospitals. Additionally, the Governor has constructed new general hospitals in each senatorial zone and upgraded existing state-owned medical facilities to enhance the quality of healthcare services in the state. The provision of free antenatal care for pregnant women and free childbirth services in state-owned medical institutions has significantly reduced maternal mortality caused by complications during pregnancy and childbirth.
In terms of human capital development, Governor Soludo’s administration has trained, equipped, and empowered over 5,000 beneficiaries through the “One Youth Two Skills” program. Furthermore, more than 25,000 individuals have received training in ICT-related soft skills through the Solution Innovation District Hub, aligning with the Governor’s vision of transforming Anambra into a new Silicon Valley.
A recent achievement includes the distribution of over 2,000 brand-new laptop computers to principals and headteachers of state-owned and mission-based schools in Anambra State.
Governor Soludo is a humble leader who believes that his accomplishments are simply part of his duty as the Governor of the state. He has proven to be a leader with a clear vision and unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people.
Notably, despite the approval of a loan request of 100 billion by the Anambra State House of Assembly for bankable projects at a low interest rate, Governor Soludo has chosen not to borrow a single dime from any financial institution. He has made it clear that he will not compromise the future of Ndi Anambra by mortgaging it.
In just two years, Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has achieved remarkable progress in various sectors, demonstrating his ability to do so much with limited resources. Congratulations to you, Mr. Governor, on your 24 months in office as the Executive Governor of Anambra State. You have proven yourself as a dedicated leader who is here to work for the betterment of our state.
