Tension is palpable amongst Commissioners and other aides of the Anambra State governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, over an alleged plan to reshuffle the cabinet any moment soon.

According to an insider, the governor would want to inject new blood in the system during the second half of his government for sociopolitical reasons.

Our source who pleaded anonymity, because he had not been authorized to speak on the matter, said even during the appointments of the serving Commissioners and other aides they were told that their tenure would base on their performance.

The source said,” You know Soludo is bent on getting maximum result for Ndi Anambra; so nonperforming Commissioners and other aides will not continue. New blood will be injected into the system for maximum productivity.

“Besides, you know that there will be a governorship election in the state next year. That election will require the appointments of real politicians into the cabinet and other strategic places not technocrats as presently constituted. So, many things will change and many people will go.

Efforts to further confirm this story from the press secretary to the governor, Mr Christian Aburime, were not successful as calls placed on his telephone line rang out.

Meanwhile, Soludo has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to deliver on his promises .

Soludo gave the assurance during the Pontifical Mass of Thanksgiving organized to mark the two years of his administration.

The governor said despite the lean resources at his disposal, his administration was still deliberate and passionate in rebuilding the state to regain its pride of place among the states of the federation through the prioritization of the five cardinal agenda of his administration, which include security, law and order, infrastructure and economic agenda, human capital development, social agenda and environment

He said his administration had concluded in putting together a master plan for urban regeneration through the state wide Water Scheme, infrastructure development, hinting on plans to dualize roads to link up Nnewi and Ekwulobia to the capital city.

He said human capital development remained Anambra’s greatest assets, noting that appointments and the recruitment of teachers as well as the one -youth-two skills programme were not based on ethnicity, religious or political affiliation but strictly on merit, assuring that his government would unrelentingly pursue to deliver the liveable and prosperous homeland.
