A 35-year-old woman, Chidinma Chinenye Agbazue, from Okija ,Anambra State was apprehended by NDLEA officials at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos for trying to export 20 parcels of cannabis sativa, weighing 10.70 kilograms. The drugs were concealed within African salad (Abacha) and dried vegetables destined for Doha, Qatar.
Working in collaboration with the Department of State Security, NDLEA officers intercepted Chidinma during passenger screening at the airport terminal. Preliminary investigations revealed that she had recently returned to Nigeria from Qatar and was attempting to traffic the drugs back to the Arab country.
Further investigation led to the arrest of two additional suspects, Monday Okeke and Chigozie Emeka, who were found in possession of 842,560 pills of opioids, including tramadol, along with 15 liters of codeine syrup and 596 grams of Molly. Okeke attempted to bribe NDLEA officers with N5 million, but the bribe was rejected, and the money was documented as evidence for prosecution.
