The Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha Archdiocese, Archbishop Valerian Maduka Okeke, has expressed his plan to give those Onitsha Correctional Centre Inmates who have taken and passed their West African Examination School Certificate opportunity to further their education through Online University.
Speaking yesterday during his Easter celebration with the inmates at the the Correctional Centre, the Archbishop expressed gladness that what they have been doing in the Correctional Centre was bearing fruits.
He said since they started coming to the Correctional Centre, people of diverse background have joined in appreciating the need to come to show solidarity with the Inmates.
He said the skills acquisition centre commissioned last year has been running successfully, in addition to those who have graduated from Primary and post primary schools, having taking their examinations.
The Archbishop said their education would not be limited at that level, hence their is a plan for an online university for them to further their studies.
He was elated with the honour of Grand Commander of Nigerian Correctional Centres, which gives him free entry into any Colorectal Centre in the country.
Lauding the Controller General of Corrections for the award bestowed on him late last year during his birthday celebration, the Archbishop said nobody living or dead has been given the award before .
